Imagine a person, who has overcome fear in their life. Someone who has struggled since they were a mere child. Someone who has grown to become one of the world’s most famous American media proprietor, actress, and producer. This is the person who I would like to research and learn more about throughout this task. This person’s name is Oprah Winfrey.
I would like to have Oprah Winfrey as my Notables choice, because of how she was an extremely small, uncared for child, who then became extremely quickly a billionaire, as her estimated net worth is around 3.5 billion dollars per year. She has many occupations such as an American talk-show host, actress, television producer, author, proprietor, journalist, philanthropist and more. However, she is most famous for her American talk-show named ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’, and the world-famous interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
But Oprah Winfrey wasn’t always this famous. As she was a black female, she was treated horribly as a child, being made fun of by her weight, and people being racist towards her. Oprah also had to keep constantly moving around America as a child. Oprah Winfrey was just 9 years old when she was first experiencing sexual abuse being put towards her. Oprah Winfrey’s older cousin was the culprit. She was then sexually assaulted by another family member, being her uncle. It was writing that saved her. As she began to write bibliographies, and soon turned towards journalism, people began to recognize Oprah Winfrey’s actions and talent.
I would like to have Oprah Winfrey as my choice, as I think that she has had an extremely interesting and captivating life, which I would like to explore more about. I admire her perseverance to get through tough times. She is an extremely notable and courageous person, who has gone through multiple hardships in her life. Therefore, I would like to have Oprah Winfrey as my Night of the Notables choice.
